Healthy Gamer Series: The Perfect Gaming Setup

We all know the stereotype of what a “gamer” looks like, right? Locked away in our basement, Cheeto dust on our shirt, and hidden away from sunlight for days. And while that does still happen when we get new releases, today’s gamer isn’t as recluse and unhealthy as people might believe. With the rise of games like Ring Fit Adventure and Beat Saber keeping us active while we game, and expert nutrition like we have here at Command keeping us going in long sessions, the “healthy gamer” is starting to be the new norm.

So, if you want to keep yourself healthy while you game, without sacrificing performance, we have all the tips you need!

A Good Gaming Chair

Long gaming sessions can wreak absolute havoc on your back if you’re not properly supported. That’s why the first thing on our list is to get yourself a good quality gaming chair. There are plenty of brands out there making great gaming chairs but, personally, I love Secretlab. I’ve got one of their chairs now (and have for over a year) and I’m never going back. Plus, they have a huge range of designs, so you can pick one that works for you whether you’re a K/DA fan, love DC comics, or want to represent FOR THE HORDE!

Your Monitor

Having a good monitor means you’re helping to protect your eyes from strain, and also means you’ll be able to react quick enough to your enemy’s movements. A lot of great gaming monitors now come with built-in features to help reduce eye strain such as anti-flicker technology and blue light filters so it’s worth investing in one that has those.

Take Breaks

We all know how great those all-night gaming sessions can be, but taking regular breaks is important not just for your health, but for your gaming performance too. Every hour or so, you should take a few minutes to stand up, stretch, and check your posture. Trust us, your top scores and your body will thank you for it.

Your Nutrition

Now I know we’re bias, but having the right nutrition behind your game can make a huge difference. Not only do our products have caffeine and Cognizin to help improve your reaction times and hit those headshots, they also contain specialist ingredients designed to help prevent eye strain (which means you can keep gaming for longer).

And listen, I know how much we all love a long gaming session fueled by crisps and junk food but eating right can really help your gaming performance too. So, grab something green every once in a while, ok? Just for me.

Exercise And Gaming

Gaming is usually a sedentary hobby, but getting some exercise in in-between games can make a huge difference to your health and your gaming performance. We all know how important exercise is when it comes to general health, but did you know it can actually help improve your gaming performance too? You’ll see your reaction times improve, and your ability to concentrate for longer. So get out there and get moving!
